Trump’s 26th Rally in 12 Days Targets El-Sayed in Michigan
The US president opened with a stark explanation for his visit, delivered at what he said was his 26th rally in 12 days. “I’m here today in Michigan for a very important reason. I’m here to keep a jihadist Muslim Brotherhood member from becoming a United States senator, and that’s the fact. Not going to let that happen,” he told the crowd.
Trump claimed El-Sayed would need a metal detector to enter the Senate chamber. He also accused the candidate of seeking to abolish police and federal border enforcement agencies.
The contest between El-Sayed and Rogers will fill the seat being vacated by retiring Democratic Sen. Gary Peters. It is a pivotal battleground in the fight for Senate control.
Trump urged supporters to turn out on Nov. 3, warning that participation falls when his name is not on the ballot. “Please show up and vote, because essentially we are all on the ballot,” he said.
He also went after Democratic Rep. Ilhan Omar, alleging she used an alternate name to take office. He demanded her immediate resignation from Congress and disparaged Somalia. The attack comes amid heightened tension after federal agents carried out an early-morning search warrant at Omar’s Washington, DC home on Oct. 12.
Turning abroad, Trump blamed unrest in cities across France, Italy and Spain entirely on immigration. “I didn’t see any students there. These were a lot of large men with very big muscles,” he said, recalling that he warned French President Emmanuel Macron about border policies in 2017. European cities have recently seen street protests tied to economic pressures and debates over migration.
Trump also vented his anger at Norway over the Nobel Peace Prize. He argued he had resolved eight conflicts without recognition, after the Nobel Committee gave the 2025 prize to Venezuelan opposition leader Maria Corina Machado. “I don’t want anybody from Norway,” he said. He contrasted Norway with Denmark, which he called “great,” and praised for cooperating on a security and defense framework for Greenland.
Before the rally, Trump told reporters Washington is “getting close to a deal” with Canada, alleging Ottawa has long profited off the US. Trade ties remain strained, with both nations having imposed tariffs on billions of dollars of goods after talks collapsed.
Asked about uranium buried in Iran, he downplayed any immediate proliferation danger. He cited the heavy rock covering the targeted facilities and continuous surveillance by the US Space Force.
Tensions across the Middle East persist, with the Iran war unresolved after large-scale American and Israeli strikes on Iran.
Trump also claimed the US defeated Iran “militarily, financially and otherwise” and said the war will end “quite soon, one way or the other.”
